Ninety Two & More

A Villan's Personal View

My grandad, Bob Edwards, has been photographing football grounds since the 1960s — a six-volume book series covering every ground he's visited, on Aston Villa away days and just for the love of ground-hopping. I built this site so the whole collection could be searched, mapped and read properly: an interactive map of every ground, a searchable list, and the full story behind the project.

The story

Where it began, and where it ended

Bob's first ever Villa game was Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion on 22 February 1964 — he was 11. He'd been to well over 92 grounds following Villa and ground-hopping by the time he completed the full set of 92 English league grounds on 9 March 2002, watching Hartlepool United draw 1-1 with Bristol Rovers. His wife Chris had quietly told the club in advance, and he was congratulated over the tannoy at half time.

"Why do they always leave Hartlepool to last?" is the line he remembers most from that day. It was completing the 92 that made him think about turning eighteen-plus years of photos into a proper collection — which became the six-volume book series this site is built around.

About this site

Built for the family, for anyone to browse

Ninety Two & More is a companion to Bob Edwards' six-volume photo memoir of every ground he's visited — searchable, mapped, and readable properly online. It's the first proper website I've built for someone else, and it won't be the last.
